Josh & Alissa Crooks

Josh and Alissa have been serving at Black Forest Academy since the fall of 2016. Since then, they have served in multiple capacities in multiple aspects of the school. Josh creates communications tools for marketing, fundraising, storytelling, alumni relations, and enrollment purposes in the form of photos, videos, podcasts, and print media. Alissa serves as a volunteer in the chaplaincy and invests in the lives of young women. She is training to be a life and ministry coach and is mom to our children Judah (7), Jabez (3), Jenevieve (6mo.)

Josh grew up in a missionary family. He was born in Venezuela and spent his formative years there. At age 12 his family transitioned to northern Italy and he attended BFA from 2006 to 2009. Josh went on to university at Cornerstone U in Grand Rapids, MI. He met the love of his life, Alissa, shortly thereafter. 

Alissa was born and raised in Grand Rapids and had a vision to serve the Lord overseas from a young age. Her passion for youth ministry and camp ministry was cultivated throughout her life. Unbeknownst to her, the call to BFA was the culmination of years of training the Lord had given her. 

Josh and Alissa were married in July of 2012, and have been following the call to make disciples of all nations ever since. (Matt. 28:18-20)
